I do think it's interesting that he is so critical of Britney (he bashed her songwriting skills too) when he use to date Jessica Simpson, who probably gets even less respect than Britney does. That's not a bash on Jessica, but she's mainly known as the ditzy blonde from a reality show. Britney, even though she's never done much live singing, at least has (or had) a reputation of being a good dancer/performer.

You'd think Britney was the only person who ever lip synced. Beyonce wasn't even trying to sing at the MTV awards. If John actually had to do something other than sit there and play his guitar he might realize the effort these women go to putting on a show.

Though he could be talking about some of the men - Usher and Justin certainly can't sing live AND do all the dancing they do.

I wouldn't compare Beyonce to Britney. Beyonce lip-synchs here and there, but she does sing live most of the time. The only other female artist I can think of that lip-syncs quite a bit is Janet, but that's understandable because she dances her butt off. Anyway, I think Britney gets criticized the most because she has been so successful. Her tour is doing better better than a lot of artists who do sing live, so I think it creates resentment from other artists and the public.
